Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey

February 09, 2010
There were 2.5 million job openings on the last business day of December 2009. The job openings rate was little changed over the month at 1.9 percent and has held relatively steady since March 2009. The hires rate (3.1 percent) and the separations rate (3.2 percent) were essentially unchanged in December.

Employment Situation

February 05, 2010
The unemployment rate fell from 10.0 to 9.7 percent in January and nonfarm payroll employment was essentially unchanged (-20,000). Employment fell in construction and in transportation and warehousing, while temporary help services and retail trade added jobs.
